Israeli Lawyer Arrested for Allegedly Coaching Minors to Give False Testimony in Terror Case

Israeli police in the Central District arrested a lawyer and four others on Tuesday on suspicion of attempting to persuade minors to provide false testimony in a security-related criminal case. The lawyer, a woman in her 30s from central Israel, represents a defendant indicted in January 2026 for serious security offenses, including terrorism acts such as shooting, arson, and weapons manufacturing in the city of Ramla.

The investigation, conducted covertly over recent months by the Central District Unit, began after the lawyer approached investigators in May claiming to possess evidence that could exonerate her client. She submitted various materials to the police, which were forwarded to the State Prosecutor's Office for examination. Doubts arose regarding the origin, manner of acquisition, and timing of these materials, prompting a secret police inquiry.

According to suspicions, the lawyer and other suspects, including family members of the defendant, contacted several minors and their parents to induce false statements. The fabricated testimonies aimed to establish an alibi for the defendant, placing him with the minors during the time the alleged offenses occurred. Police also suspect that the minors were offered money or subjected to pressure and threats to cooperate.

With the investigation moving into a public phase, the lawyer and four additional suspects from Ramla, all related to the defendant, were arrested. The allegations have not yet been proven in court.
