Yisrael Party Activist Brutally Attacked While Removing Sign Supporting Yigal Amir's Release

Ilan Mans, a 76-year-old activist from the Yisrael party, was hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem with a severe brain hemorrhage after being brutally attacked while attempting to remove a sign calling for the release of Yigal Amir, the assassin of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The incident occurred last Friday and was followed by a physical confrontation with supporters of Amir's release. According to Mans' associates, one attacker even attempted to strangle him during the altercation.

Gadi Eizenkot, chairman of the Yisrael party, spoke with Mans after the attack and expressed strong support. The party issued a statement condemning the violence and urging the Israeli police to immediately apprehend the assailants and bring them to justice. Eizenkot emphasized the party's firm stance against extremist elements, warning that if Benjamin Netanyahu and Itamar Ben-Gvir win the upcoming elections, they might release Amir, which the party opposes vehemently.

Mans reportedly confronted the protesters by accusing them of wanting to free the man who murdered a prime minister and called on them to feel shame. The Yisrael party reaffirmed its commitment to not remain silent or allow the country to fall under extremist control, pledging to protect public spaces from such influences. The party also sent wishes for Mans' speedy recovery.

The attack highlights ongoing tensions surrounding the controversial figure of Yigal Amir and the political divisions in Israel ahead of the elections. The police have been called upon to act swiftly in response to this violent incident.
