Man Hospitalized With Brain Bleeding After Brutal Attack Removing Pro-Amir Sign Near Jerusalem

Ilan Mans was violently attacked last week while attempting to remove a sign reading "Free Yigal Amir" on the Hemed Bridge near Jerusalem. Following the assault, Mans was hospitalized in the neurology department at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital after being diagnosed with brain bleeding. The "Support for Detainees" organization, which provides legal aid to protest activists, reported that Mans initially noticed loss of function in his left hand and dropping objects after the attack. Symptoms worsened on Saturday, prompting his family to take him to the hospital where a CT scan confirmed brain hemorrhage attributed to the blows he received during the assault. Mans is expected to remain hospitalized for at least 48 hours.

Mans claimed that police did not arrive at the scene after the attack, which caused him multiple injuries. Since the incident, he has been accompanied by the "Support for Detainees" team. The sign he tried to remove called for the release of Yigal Amir, who assassinated Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin on November 4, 1995, after a peace rally in Tel Aviv. Amir was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment plus additional terms. Calls for his release remain highly controversial in Israel.
