Man Hospitalized with Brain Bleeding After Attack for Removing Yigal Amir Release Sign

Ilan Mans, a 76-year-old man, was assaulted last Thursday after attempting to remove a sign calling for the release of Yigal Amir, the assassin of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The incident occurred on the Hemed Interchange bridge over Highway 1 near Jerusalem. Mans was attacked by activists who had placed the sign, resulting in severe injuries including brain bleeding and a concussion. He was hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center and is expected to undergo neurosurgery.

Representatives from the detainee support group "Otef Otzrim," who are assisting Mans, reported that his left hand fingers stopped functioning and he dropped everything he held. They noted that his condition worsened over the weekend, prompting his family to take him to the hospital where a CT scan confirmed brain hemorrhaging caused by the assault. Mans remains in the neurological ward and is expected to stay hospitalized for at least 48 hours.

The sign had been displayed for several weeks on the Hemed Interchange bridge, advocating for Amir's release. Mans's attempt to remove it led to the violent confrontation captured in footage showing him lying on the ground surrounded by attackers.
