Tamir Blatt Officially Signs Three-Year Deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv Basketball

Tamir Blatt has officially signed a three-year contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv, marking one of the biggest moves in Israeli basketball this summer. The 29-year-old guard, who previously played for Maccabi Tel Aviv over the past three seasons, returns to Hapoel Tel Aviv, the club where he began his professional career more than a decade ago. The contract includes an annual salary of $1.1 million plus $500,000 in shares, totaling $1.6 million per season. However, Blatt is expected to be loaned to another team during the first year of his contract.

The deal was finalized after weeks of negotiations and internal disagreements within Hapoel Tel Aviv regarding Blatt's role, which delayed the signing. Blatt's recent performance includes averages of 7.1 points and 5.2 assists in 19.5 minutes per game in the EuroLeague last season, alongside 9.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the Israeli Premier League, shooting 40.7% on two-pointers and 39.3% on three-pointers.

Blatt's career began at Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2014 when he joined their senior team at age 17. He later played for Hapoel Holon for one season and then Hapoel Jerusalem from 2018 to 2021. Afterward, he moved to Alba Berlin, competing in the EuroLeague for the first time, before returning to Israel to join Maccabi Tel Aviv for the last three years. His return to Hapoel Tel Aviv is seen as a significant development in Israeli basketball ahead of the new season.
