IDF Kills Hezbollah Militants in Southern Lebanon Clash, Officer Wounded

During the night between Friday and Saturday, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) identified and eliminated several Hezbollah militants in the Ali Taher ridge area of southern Lebanon, within the security zone where the IDF operates. The operation aimed to neutralize an immediate threat to Israeli troops. In the ensuing clash, an IDF combat officer was moderately wounded and evacuated to a hospital for treatment, with his family informed of his condition.

This incident is part of ongoing IDF efforts to remove all threats posed by Hezbollah in the region. Recently, the IDF’s 91st Division has intensified operations to locate and destroy weapons caches hidden by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Over the past days, soldiers from the 401st, 4th, and 300th brigades uncovered a wide array of arms, including Kalashnikov rifles, RPG anti-tank rockets, explosives, grenades, magazines, and other combat equipment, highlighting the extensive arsenal accumulated by Hezbollah over the years.

The clash follows heightened tensions on the northern front. Under directives from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, the IDF recently destroyed Hezbollah’s terror tunnels in the Bofor area of southern Lebanon. These tunnels were part of Hezbollah’s planned invasion strategy targeting Israeli communities in the Galilee. The operation was a response to Hezbollah’s blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement, including an attack involving an explosive drone targeting an IDF engineering vehicle in the Ali Taher ridge within the Israeli security zone.

The Israeli government has stated it will not tolerate any breach of the ceasefire and warned that any attempt by Hezbollah to harm IDF forces or Israeli civilians will be met with a severe and costly response. The IDF remains committed to maintaining its presence in the security zone and continuing to dismantle Hezbollah’s terror infrastructure to prevent the group from rebuilding its capabilities. The operational activities are ongoing, with forces continuing to search for additional concealed weapons in the area.
