Israel Raises Regulated Gasoline Prices by Over 60 Agorot Per Liter Starting August 2

The Israeli Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced on Thursday that regulated fuel prices will increase by 61 agorot per liter at midnight between Saturday and Sunday, August 2, 2026. The maximum price for 95-octane unleaded gasoline in self-service stations, including VAT, will rise to 8.09 shekels per liter. The surcharge for full-service stations remains unchanged at 25 agorot per liter. In Eilat, the maximum price for 95-octane gasoline in self-service stations, excluding VAT, will increase by 51 agorot to 6.85 shekels per liter, with the full-service surcharge steady at 21 agorot per liter.

Batsheva Abuhatzira, head of the Fuel and Gas Administration at the Ministry, explained that the price hike is due to a sharp 22% rise in international gasoline prices amid increasing global oil costs and ongoing concerns about supply disruptions and energy market stability. Additionally, a 1.9% strengthening of the US dollar against the shekel contributed to the price increase. Abuhatzira noted that gasoline prices in Israel continue to reflect global energy market volatility, citing a 1.03 shekel per liter increase in April, a 2 agorot rise in May, followed by a cumulative 59 agorot drop in June and July, before this latest upward adjustment.
