Fuel Prices Surge by 61 Agorot Per Liter Starting Early August in Israel
The Israeli Energy and Infrastructure Ministry's Fuel and Gas Administration announced a significant fuel price increase effective midnight between Saturday and Sunday. The maximum price for a liter of 95-octane unleaded gasoline at self-service stations will rise by 61 agorot to 8.09 shekels, including VAT. Full-service stations will add an extra 25 agorot per liter. In Eilat, where VAT is not applied, the maximum price for the same fuel type will increase by 51 agorot to 6.85 shekels per liter, with a 21 agorot surcharge for full service.
The price hike is primarily attributed to escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf and ongoing U.S. military actions targeting the Iranian regime. Additionally, disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz caused by Iranian maneuvers are contributing to the rising fuel costs. These geopolitical factors have led to a notable increase in fuel prices across Israel starting in early August.
