Police Release Footage of Eldar Dayan Driving Car Linked to Attempted Hit-and-Run

The investigation into the disappearance of Eldar Dayan took a new turn on Wednesday when police revealed footage showing Dayan driving a car suspected to have been used in an attempted hit-and-run incident. The video shows Dayan parking the vehicle before fleeing the scene. Later footage shows him entering a gas station in Petah Tikva with two shirtless friends, where he puts on a white shirt and then disappears.

According to police, Dayan and his friends, Maxim Barberman and Omri Peretz, arrived in Tel Aviv and met with others, which escalated into a fight. During the altercation, Dayan rammed another car and was involved in the hit-and-run attempt. The trio was seen removing the car’s license plates at a gas station in Petah Tikva. Police received a tip from a witness and found the damaged car with blood stains at the scene. Forensic teams collected fingerprints and evidence, and the car was registered to Barberman’s mother.

Authorities searched hospitals for the hit-and-run victim but found no trace. The connection between Dayan’s disappearance and the incident was made only after his family filed a missing person report last weekend. Police confirmed Dayan is wanted for questioning and is currently evading arrest. Two of his friends were detained and later released under restrictive conditions. Police are still investigating the cause of the fight and why Dayan has not contacted anyone since.

Dayan’s sister, Lian, expressed distrust in the police narrative, noting inconsistencies in the accounts given by friends. The family reported losing contact with Dayan over a week ago, with the last message from him mentioning trouble during a fight. Despite the missing person report filed in Dimona, the family has received no clear information about his whereabouts. Police in Petah Tikva are expected to continue the investigation once Dayan is located.
