Israeli Woman Arrested for Stealing From Holocaust Survivor Using Fake Nurse Identity

Liora Nativ-Strasberg, 55, from Haifa's Hadar Carmel neighborhood, had her detention extended by six days by the Haifa Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. She is suspected of defrauding a Holocaust survivor in her 90s by stealing her credit card during a shared trip and later impersonating a health nurse to enter the victim's home and steal additional property. The suspect then allegedly made purchases totaling thousands of shekels on the stolen credit card. Nativ-Strasberg, who was previously married to a 95-year-old woman and released under restrictive conditions during a similar ongoing trial for elderly fraud in Haifa, is now detained again due to new suspicions of fraud committed during her conditional release. Police investigations uncovered that she violated electronic monitoring conditions and found credit cards belonging to other individuals during a search of her home. Defense attorney Amir Margia requested her release, citing the presumption of innocence, but the court extended her detention, citing reasonable suspicion. The suspect will appear again before the court next Sunday, with the investigation ongoing.
