Haifa Woman Arrested for Allegedly Defrauding Holocaust Survivor of Thousands
A 54-year-old woman from Haifa was arrested on suspicion of defrauding a Holocaust survivor in her 90s by stealing thousands of shekels. According to police, the suspect initially took the survivor's credit card during a shared car ride and later visited her home under the pretense of conducting medical tests. While there, she allegedly stole additional property from the elderly woman. Afterward, the suspect used the stolen credit card to make purchases totaling several thousand shekels.
Following her arrest, authorities discovered that the woman was under electronic monitoring, which she reportedly violated during the commission of these offenses. The police announced that they intend to request an extension of her detention at the Haifa Magistrate's Court. The investigation remains ongoing as the case develops.
