Greek Coast Guard Arrests Four Israelis in Drug Party on Private Catamaran

By איתמר אייכנר
Translated & summarized from Ynet by baba
The story · English

Last week, the Greek Coast Guard raided a private catamaran off the coast of Lefkada island and arrested four Israelis suspected of participating in a drug party aboard the vessel. Among the Israeli detainees were businessmen, including one linked to a coffee shop chain in Israel. Alongside them, four other suspects were arrested, holding citizenships from Italy, Latvia, Turkey, and Spain. Greek authorities reported that none of the Israeli suspects hold Greek citizenship.

During the search of the catamaran, authorities seized over 55 grams of cannabis, approximately 10 grams of crystalline MDMA (methamphetamine), more than 8 grams of cocaine, and over a dozen ecstasy pills. Additionally, twelve unidentified blue pills with unknown chemical composition, plates with cannabis residues, and banknotes with traces of cocaine were confiscated. The authorities also seized around 7,000 euros in cash in three different currencies, including Israeli shekels, as well as mobile phones, a laptop, and the catamaran itself.

The incident was reported in Greek media a few days ago, but the names of the eight detainees have not yet been disclosed. The investigation is ongoing as Greek authorities continue to process the case involving international suspects and significant quantities of illicit substances.
