Four Israelis Arrested on Greek Catamaran for Drug Possession Released Under Restrictions

Last week, four Israeli citizens were arrested on the Greek island of Lefkada along with four foreign nationals after the Greek Coast Guard discovered drugs hidden on a private catamaran. The search, conducted on Thursday morning at the popular Frigiali port, was based on intelligence and carried out in the presence of judicial authorities. Authorities found 55.6 grams of cannabis, 10 grams of MDMA, ecstasy tablets, 8.1 grams of cocaine, unidentified blue pills, drug residues, grinders, and banknotes with cocaine traces on board the British-flagged vessel.

Among the eight detainees were four Israelis, including one who owns a chain of Israeli coffee shops. The others were citizens of Turkey, Italy, Spain, and Latvia. The boat’s owner is reportedly of Israeli origin, and the captain is Turkish. Authorities also seized 7,000 euros, 3,240 shekels, 563 dollars, eight mobile phones, two tablets, a laptop, and the catamaran itself.

The suspects were brought before a court in Lefkada on Friday, where their detention was extended. After nearly ten hours of hearings on Monday, the court ordered their release under restrictive conditions, including a 5,000-euro bail for each individual. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
