Greek Coast Guard Arrests Four Israelis with Drugs on Catamaran Near Lefkada Island
The Greek Coast Guard detained eight foreign nationals on Tuesday, including four Israelis, after discovering drugs and thousands of euros in cash aboard a catamaran near the island of Lefkada. The Israeli detainees, reportedly businessmen, were found with over 55 grams of cannabis, 10 grams of crystalline methamphetamine (MDMA), more than 8 grams of cocaine packets, and dozens of ecstasy and unidentified blue pills. The operation followed intelligence received by the Coast Guard, which raided the vessel while it was anchored off Lefkada's eastern shore.
Authorities also seized cash totaling 7,000 euros in three different currencies, along with mobile phones and a laptop. The case was reported to the international department of the Israeli police within the last 24 hours. Besides the four Israelis, the other four arrested individuals were citizens of Turkey, Italy, Spain, and Latvia.
