Nottingham Forest Makes 20 Million Euro Bid for Anan Khalaily, Rejected by Union Saint-Gilloise

Two weeks after his transfer to Inter Milan collapsed, Israeli winger and right-back Anan Khalaily continues to attract interest from top European leagues. According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest submitted a 20 million euro offer to Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise for Khalaily, which was rejected. The bid included 17.5 million euros guaranteed transfer fees, 2.5 million euros in performance-based bonuses, and a percentage of any future sale. However, this offer fell short of the approximately 28 million euros Union Saint-Gilloise had agreed upon with Inter earlier this month, leading the Belgian club to maintain a higher asking price.

Khalaily, 21, joined Union Saint-Gilloise in summer 2024 from Maccabi Haifa for 6.5 million euros. In his first season, he helped the club win its first Belgian league title in 90 years and scored three goals in eight Champions League appearances the following season. He is under contract until 2028, so the club is not under pressure to sell him this summer.

New Nottingham Forest coach Oliver Glasner is reportedly seeking wing players with high work rate, tactical discipline, and two-way contributions. Khalaily fits this profile due to his versatility, ability to play multiple positions, and offensive and defensive commitment. Forest views him as a player with untapped potential who could develop significantly and increase his value if he adapts to the Premier League.

Khalaily was close to joining Inter Milan in mid-July, but the deal fell through after he failed a medical. Other Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth and Newcastle, are also monitoring his situation during the transfer window. If signed, Khalaily would add depth and competition to Forest’s wing-back positions under Glasner.
