Nottingham Forest's €20 Million Bid for Anan Khalaily Rejected by Belgian Club

Nottingham Forest from the English Premier League submitted a formal offer of 20 million euros for Israeli winger Anan Khalaily, but the proposal was declined by his current Belgian club, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. The offer included 17.5 million euros guaranteed, with an additional 2.5 million euros in performance-based bonuses and a percentage of any future transfer fee. However, Union Saint-Gilloise is demanding a higher sum close to 28 million euros.

Just two weeks prior, Khalaily had nearly transferred to Inter Milan, with an agreement reached between the clubs. The deal collapsed at the last moment after the 21-year-old failed to pass the required medical examination in Italy. Khalaily, who can play both as a right wing-back and winger, has attracted interest from other English clubs including Bournemouth and Newcastle.

Forest coach Oliver Glasner views Khalaily as a preferred option to strengthen the right flank, seeking a player with intensity, speed, and physical presence. Khalaily, standing 1.83 meters tall, would add competition and depth alongside Forest’s current right-sided players Neco Williams and Ola Aina. The club had previously failed to secure Dutch player Givairo Rid from Feyenoord.

Khalaily’s career has been on a notable rise since joining Union Saint-Gilloise in summer 2024 from Maccabi Haifa for 6.5 million euros. In his first season, he contributed to the club’s historic Belgian league title, ending a 90-year drought, and scored three goals in three UEFA Champions League appearances. He holds a contract with the Belgian club until summer 2028 and has made 16 appearances for the Israeli national team.
