Nottingham Forest Offers €20 Million for Israeli Defender Anan Khalaily After Inter Milan Deal Collapses

After a last-minute collapse of Anan Khalaily's transfer to Inter Milan due to additional cardiological tests requested by the Italian Olympic Committee, the Israeli defender is now attracting interest from the English Premier League. According to reports from Athletic, Nottingham Forest has submitted a €20 million offer to Union Saint-Gilloise for Khalaily, which was declined. The offer included €17.5 million guaranteed and an additional €2.5 million in performance-related bonuses, with relatively low future resale percentages promised to the Belgian club. This bid is significantly lower than the previously agreed €25 million deal with Inter Milan, which fell through after the club was informed that Khalaily did not pass the extra cardiac examinations, despite him successfully completing the club's standard medical tests.

Medical experts explain that since the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccinations, such cardiac findings have become more common, affecting about one in every three to four players and requiring further specialist evaluation. Khalaily, who transferred to Union Saint-Gilloise in summer 2024 from Maccabi Haifa for €6.5 million, played 52 matches last season, scoring six goals and providing six assists. The ongoing interest from Nottingham Forest suggests Khalaily's potential move to the Premier League remains a possibility despite the setback with Inter Milan.
