Nottingham Forest Offers 20 Million Euros for Israeli Defender Anan Khalaily After Inter Milan Deal Falls Through

After a last-minute collapse of his transfer to Inter Milan due to additional cardiological tests requested by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), Israeli defender Anan Khalaily is now attracting interest from the English Premier League. According to reports from The Athletic on July 28, 2026, Nottingham Forest has submitted a 20 million euro bid to Union Saint-Gilloise for the Israeli talent, which was rejected so far.

The offer from Nottingham Forest included 17.5 million euros guaranteed and an additional 2.5 million euros in performance-related bonuses, with relatively low future resale percentages promised to the Belgian club. This bid is significantly lower than the previously agreed 25 million euro deal with Inter Milan, which fell apart after CONI required further cardiological examinations during the medical tests, ultimately deeming Khalaily unfit. Notably, Khalaily had passed the routine medical tests conducted by Inter Milan itself.

Medical experts explain that since the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccinations, such findings have become more common, with about one in three or four players showing similar results that require further evaluation. This is a standard procedure many players undergo, and the initial findings were sent to a specialist for final approval.

Khalaily joined Union Saint-Gilloise in summer 2024 for 6.5 million euros from Maccabi Haifa. In the past season, he made 52 appearances for the Belgian club, scoring six goals and providing six assists. The ongoing interest from Nottingham Forest suggests Khalaily’s Premier League move could still materialize despite the setback with Inter Milan.
