IDF and Jordan Intercept Drones Near Border Amid Regional Tensions

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intercepted two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) earlier near the Jordanian border. The drones did not cross into Israeli territory, so no alerts were issued in line with IDF policy. The interception took place over the Dead Sea area using Iron Dome systems. The origin of the drones remains unclear, with investigations ongoing to determine if they were launched from Iraq, Yemen, Syria, or Iran.

Jordan also reported intercepting two drones heading toward its territory, confirming no casualties or damage occurred. Last week, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency advised airlines to avoid Jordanian airspace until the end of August, though this guidance is non-binding.

Additionally, the Israeli Air Force shot down a drone near the Syrian border a week ago, but the source of that drone remains uncertain. Israeli assessments suggest it was likely launched by militias operating in the region rather than directly from Iran.
