IDF Intercepts Two Drones Near Jordan Border as Launch Source Investigated

On Monday morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intercepted two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) near the Jordan border before they entered Israeli territory. The IDF spokesperson stated that the origin of the launch is currently under investigation and that no alerts were activated in accordance with policy. This follows a similar incident last week when the Israeli Air Force shot down a drone near the Syrian border, with the source of that launch also under review and no findings yet disclosed.

Last Wednesday, residents of Eilat reported hearing explosions after missiles were launched from Iran toward Aqaba in Jordan. The Jordanian military confirmed that six missiles were fired into its territory, with four intercepted and two falling in unpopulated open areas without causing casualties or damage. The missile launches caused delays to flights en route to the region, including flights from Ben Gurion Airport to Eilat and from Abu Dhabi to Tel Aviv.

The IDF clarified that Israel did not launch any interceptors and that there were no confirmed impacts within Israeli territory. Amid the rising tensions, the Israeli security cabinet convened an extended meeting on Sunday evening to discuss the situation.
