IDF Intercepts Two Drones Near Jordan Border Without Airspace Breach

On April 1, 2026, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the interception of two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) detected near the Jordan border. The drones did not cross into Israeli airspace. Concurrently, the Jordanian military reported shooting down two drones that had entered their airspace. Earlier last week, the IDF also intercepted a UAV near the Syrian border, with the origin of that drone still under investigation. According to IDF procedures, before intercepting a drone, they verify it is not an Israeli aircraft that lost control or deviated from its path. Once confirmed as non-Israeli and posing a threat to IDF forces deployed in Syria or along the Israeli border, the drone is shot down.

The IDF has collected drone debris and combined it with video footage and intelligence data to determine the drones' origins.
