British Artist David Hockney Dies at 88
British artist David Hockney, widely regarded as one of the most influential and defining figures in contemporary art, has died at the age of 88. His publicist, Erica Bolton, announced the news on Friday.
Bolton said Hockney died peacefully at his home in London on Thursday, about a month before his 89th birthday. Hockney was known for paintings that captured the world in vivid, bright colors.
In her tribute, Bolton described him as "one of the most important figures in contemporary art, in both the 20th and 21st centuries."
