Arab Driver Released Without Questioning After Hitting Haredi Protester at Geha Junction
An Arab driver from Kafr Qasim, aged 22, who struck a Haredi protester during a demonstration at Geha Junction on Thursday evening, was released without being questioned. Police said she asked for medical treatment and will be summoned for questioning at a later date.
The release came despite an earlier police statement saying the driver had turned herself in, been detained for questioning, and that initial steps had already been taken to clarify the circumstances. At that time, police also said she was expected to be questioned by the Tel Aviv District traffic investigators.
The incident happened during a protest when a car passing through the area hit a Haredi demonstrator. Medical teams evacuated the injured man for treatment, and his condition was described as moderate.
The investigation into the circumstances is still ongoing, while the release has raised questions about the handling of the case and the next steps in the probe.
