Netanyahu to Meet Trump in Washington Amid Rising Tensions with Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C., on Monday for an official visit at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump. During his stay, Netanyahu will meet with Trump at the White House on Tuesday and attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham, described by Netanyahu's office as a "friend of Israel." The Prime Minister's office clarified that no journalists will be allowed to accompany Netanyahu on his flight aboard the Wing of Zion aircraft.

This visit comes amid heightened alertness due to fears of escalating conflict with Iran. The U.S. military has reportedly conducted missile strikes against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' naval headquarters in Zibaknar on the Caspian Sea coast for the 13th consecutive night, causing damage at the site. Israeli security officials are preparing for either a rapid deterioration or a controlled, gradual escalation in the coming days.

Israeli and American officials have communicated recently, with U.S. counterparts warning of the need to be ready for escalation, though the timing remains uncertain. It is also unclear whether any forthcoming military action will be solely American or if Israel will become involved following an Iranian attack, which would draw Israel into the conflict as well.
