Defense Minister Katz Pledges to Expand Settlements After West Bank Terror Attack

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a statement following a stabbing attack near the settlement of Elon Moreh in the West Bank. He wished a speedy recovery to Itamar Cohen, a co-founder of agricultural farms in Judea and Samaria, who was seriously injured in the attack. Katz praised the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and security forces for their swift and professional response, which resulted in the killing of the two terrorists involved.

Katz highlighted that due to the ongoing offensive policy and continuous security operations, Palestinian terrorism has decreased by over 80 percent. However, he warned that terrorism remains a threat and vowed that the IDF will continue to strike terror cells wherever they emerge. He emphasized that the military will not hesitate to enter additional villages and camps to dismantle terror infrastructures, referencing previous operations in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur al-Shams.

Concluding his statement, Katz affirmed that terrorism will not deter Israel and announced that the government will continue to strengthen settlements in Judea and Samaria. This includes establishing new communities and legalizing additional farms, as part of Israel's security doctrine to develop the region while ensuring the safety of its residents and all Israeli citizens.
