Israel Advances New Settlement Near West Bank Terror Attack Site to Bolster Security

Following a stabbing and arson attack near the Derech Avraham farm in the West Bank on Thursday, Israeli Defense Minister Bezalel Smotrich ordered the immediate acceleration of establishing the new settlement of "Shalem," which had previously been approved by the government cabinet. The settlement is located close to the attack site and is intended as a strategic and settlement response to ongoing terror threats in the region.

In addition to fast-tracking the settlement's groundwork, Smotrich instructed the Civil Administration to conduct a comprehensive and immediate mapping of all illegal structures in the area surrounding the attack site. He also ordered the demolition of these unauthorized buildings to restore deterrence and security for local residents. Furthermore, the minister called for increased enforcement and security presence to strengthen governance and law enforcement in the area.

Smotrich emphasized that these measures send a clear message to Israel's enemies that terrorism will not defeat the settlement enterprise. He stated, "The best response to terror is strengthening settlement and governance. For every attempt to harm us, we will deepen our roots in the land of our ancestors and continue to build, develop, and fight for the security of Israeli citizens." These steps reflect a determined and Zionist approach to maintaining Israeli presence and security in the West Bank amid ongoing threats.
