Beitar Jerusalem Coach Almog Cohen Emphasizes Respect for AEK Larnaca Ahead of Conference League Clash

Beitar Jerusalem is set to officially begin its European season on Thursday with an away match against AEK Larnaca in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. Ahead of the game, Beitar held a press conference featuring head coach Almog Cohen and midfielder Boris Inyo, who discussed their Cypriot opponent, match conditions, and team objectives.

Coach Cohen highlighted AEK Larnaca's extensive European experience, noting that such experience is built over time and cannot be easily overcome. He said, "I don't think you can simply break AEK. They have a lot of experience, which they will use to control the game and its pace. We have great respect for them." Cohen outlined Beitar's strategy to counter this by pressing high and maintaining a fast tempo, which he believes could be key to gaining an advantage.

Cohen also addressed the absence of defender Luka Gadrani due to injury, stating it would not alter their game plan. He expressed confidence in the squad's depth and readiness to play their style of football. Regarding the importance of securing a positive result in the first leg, Cohen said, "I fully believe we can achieve a good result tomorrow that will put us in a strong position for the return leg."

The coach further commented on differences between Israeli and Cypriot football, pointing out that Cypriot teams face no restrictions on foreign players, often fielding mostly foreigners in European matches, while Israeli teams have limits. Additionally, Beitar cannot play home matches in Israel due to current restrictions, losing the advantage of home support.

Midfielder Boris Inyo echoed respect for AEK Larnaca's experience but emphasized Beitar's intent to play their own game and perform well. He also noted that the weather conditions in Cyprus are similar to Israel's and pose no issue for the team.
