Beitar Jerusalem Coach Almog Cohen Emphasizes Respect for AEK Larnaca Ahead of Conference League Clash

Beitar Jerusalem is set to officially begin its European campaign on Thursday with an away match against AEK Larnaca in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. Ahead of the game, Beitar held a press conference featuring head coach Almog Cohen and midfielder Boris Enow, who discussed their Cypriot opponents, match conditions, and team objectives.

Coach Cohen highlighted AEK Larnaca's extensive European experience, stating, "You cannot simply break AEK Larnaca. They have enormous experience that is built over time and cannot be bought. They will use it to control the game and its pace." He described the key challenge as managing their veteran players and emphasized Beitar's strategy to press high and play at a fast tempo, which he believes could be their advantage.

Cohen also addressed the absence of defender Luka Gadrani due to injury but expressed confidence in the squad's depth and readiness to execute their game plan. Regarding the importance of the first leg, he said, "I fully believe we can achieve a good result tomorrow that will put us in a strong position for the return leg."

The coach further commented on disparities between Israeli and Cypriot football, noting that Cypriot teams face no restrictions on foreign players in European matches, unlike Israeli clubs. He also mentioned the disadvantage of not playing home matches in Israel, which diminishes their usual home crowd advantage.

Midfielder Boris Enow echoed respect for AEK Larnaca's experience but stressed Beitar's intent to play their own game and perform well. He added that the weather conditions in Cyprus are similar to Israel's and pose no issues for the team.
