Trump Threatens Iran With Targeted Strikes After Any Attack in Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump announced on the social media platform Truth that the United States will escalate its military response to any Iranian attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. He declared that from now on, any missile, rocket, drone, or other weapon launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran against vessels in the strategic waterway will be met with US airstrikes targeting a bridge or power station, including those located near or within Tehran.

Following Trump's statement, Hassan Kashkavavi, spokesperson for Iran's National Security Committee in parliament, dismissed the claim that Iran sought negotiations as disconnected from reality. He urged the US president to find better ways out of the current deadlock, criticizing repeated falsehoods that no longer calm markets even temporarily.

The announcement came a day after Trump met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House. Trump described US-Lebanon relations as "very good" and revealed that Iran is desperate to negotiate behind the scenes due to heavy setbacks. However, he emphasized that until Iran is ready for meaningful talks, he has no interest in engaging with them. Trump warned that if the US withdrew now, Iran would take 25 years to recover, and affirmed that the US will continue to strike any suspected nuclear sites.

This new US stance signals a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran, particularly concerning security in the vital Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route.
