US and Israel Prepare for Potential Iran Escalation Amid Hormuz Strait Tensions

US fighter jets have been deployed for potential strikes against Iran as tensions escalate in the Middle East. Despite the significant US military buildup in the region, American and Israeli security officials believe President Donald Trump could still prevent a major Iranian attack if Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz and places responsibility for the passage under US control. Over the past day, Israeli military command and US Central Command have coordinated scenarios for a possible deterioration in relations with Iran.

Two main scenarios are being prepared: one involves the US completing troop deployments and strengthening defenses, while the other anticipates Iran launching aggressive attacks on regional countries, including Israel, which would compel the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to respond forcefully. A senior Israeli security official noted that not all escalation scenarios would necessarily involve Israel, but warned that any Iranian strike on Israeli territory would trigger a much stronger Israeli retaliation than in previous conflicts.

Although Iran claims control over the Strait of Hormuz, it has been disrupting ship traffic, causing significant congestion that is already affecting global energy prices. Israeli military intelligence and the air force have expanded their target lists across Iran, including newly identified sites. IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has personally approved high-value targets in preparation for a potential escalation requiring an unusually strong Israeli military response, surpassing previous operations such as "Lion's Den" and "Roaring Lion."

Additionally, amid the withdrawal of Israeli forces from several pilot locations, there is concern that Hezbollah might exploit the heightened tensions with Iran to initiate attacks against Israel. The situation remains volatile as both US and Israeli forces prepare for multiple contingencies in the region.
