US Embassy Warns Americans in Israel of Rising Violence Linked to Organized Crime Groups

The US Embassy in Jerusalem issued a rare security warning on June 16, 2025, alerting American citizens in Israel to an increase in violence connected to rival Israeli organized crime groups. The violence primarily affects areas in Tel Aviv, Jaffa, and Herzliya. Meanwhile, Israeli police are investigating a recent wave of grenade and explosive device attacks in central Israel. Several suspects were arrested but most have been released to house arrest, with only two remaining in custody as the investigation proceeds. Additionally, the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extended the detention of a suspect accused of throwing a grenade at the Japanese restaurant Japnika in Kiryat Ono until July 28. The court imposed a gag order on the suspect's identity at his request. A key piece of evidence against him reportedly includes fingerprints found on grenade fragments left at the scene.
