Samsung Unveils New Foldable Phones, Smart Glasses, and Watches with Local Prices
Samsung is launching several new products at its Unpacked event in London, including the next generation of foldable smartphones, innovative smart glasses, and new smartwatches. The smart glasses, developed in collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, aim to compete directly with Meta's AR glasses. These glasses feature a built-in camera, AI processor, and integration with Google's Gemini AI, offering real-time translation, message summarization, and voice command controls. Battery life is expected to last up to nine hours per charge with additional charges from the carrying case. Pricing details remain undisclosed globally.
Samsung also introduced three new foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The Fold8 Ultra features an 8-inch main screen, 4.1mm thickness when open, a 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. The Fold8 offers improved screen ratios, weighs 201 grams, and includes Flex Titanium technology for enhanced durability. The Flip8 is thinner and lighter with AI-enhanced external display features and a 50MP camera. All models support AI-powered features like Now Brief and Now Nudge for personalized insights and voice commands. Samsung also announced easier data transfer from iPhones via QR code scanning and compatibility between Quick Share and Apple's AirDrop.
In Israel, prices for the Flip models start around 3,700 to 4,750 shekels, Fold models range from 5,700 to 8,200 shekels, and the Fold Ultra starts between 6,400 and 8,950 shekels, depending on the retailer. Samsung also revealed the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 smartwatches, emphasizing AI-driven health monitoring and preventive care. The Ultra2 targets extreme sports enthusiasts with a larger battery and brighter display, while the Watch9 offers smaller sizes and similar AI health features. Prices for the watches in Israel start at approximately 1,080 shekels for Bluetooth models and up to 2,000 shekels for the Ultra2.
