Samsung Launches New Galaxy Z Fold8 Series Including iPhone-Like Foldable Model

Samsung unveiled its latest foldable smartphone lineup, the Galaxy Z8 series, at a launch event in London on July 22, 2026. The new series expands from two to three models: the Flip 8 clamshell, the newly designed square-shaped Fold 8, and the Fold 8 Ultra, which replaces the previous Fold flagship. Samsung aims to cater to diverse user needs, from professionals requiring high performance to media consumers and content creators. Notably, the Fold 8’s square design is rumored to resemble the upcoming Apple foldable iPhone, expected to launch within two months and possibly named iPhone Ultra, mirroring Samsung’s naming convention.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the premium model, featuring an 8.0-inch main screen (up from 7.6 inches), a 6.5-inch external screen, and a brighter display at 3,000 nits. It is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, weighing 215 grams. The Ultra’s camera system received a major upgrade to a 200MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens, supporting 8K video recording with advanced APV encoding. It runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and has a larger 5,000 mAh battery.

The Fold 8 model offers a compact square "passport" form factor with a 5.5-inch external screen and a 7.6-inch internal screen, optimized for media consumption and social media use. It is Samsung’s lightest Fold device at 201 grams, equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, and dual 50MP rear cameras. Both Fold models incorporate Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology, which uses a titanium alloy layer to enhance screen durability, reduce visible creases, and improve hinge mechanics.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 retains the clamshell design with a larger external FlexWindow display featuring AI-powered widgets. It is slimmer and lighter than the previous Flip7, powered by Samsung’s new Exynos 2600 processor, and maintains a 50MP camera with improved stabilization. However, none of the new foldables support the S-Pen stylus or the private display feature found in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Pre-orders in Israel started on July 22, with official sales beginning August 9, 2026. Prices for the Flip 8 start at 3,999 shekels, while the Fold 8 Ultra begins at 6,899 shekels. Samsung also launched two new smartwatches: the rugged Galaxy Watch Ultra2 with a titanium body and 5,000-nit display, and the Galaxy Watch9 aimed at general users, both featuring advanced AI health monitoring and available for pre-order alongside the phones.
