Dutch Defender Nigel Lonwijk Nears Signing with Hapoel Haifa
Hapoel Haifa is close to signing 23-year-old Dutch defender Nigel Lonwijk, who is currently on loan at Luton Town from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Lonwijk, of Surinamese descent, has been training with Wolves during their preseason and has previously played for several clubs on loan, including Fortuna Sittard, Plymouth Argyle, and Wycombe Wanderers. He developed through the youth system at PSV Eindhoven before moving to Wolverhampton as a youth player. Last season, Lonwijk made 45 appearances and scored two goals for Luton Town in England's third tier. He has also represented the Netherlands at the youth international level and is expected to strengthen Hapoel Haifa's central defense under coach Barak Bachar. The club is currently in negotiations to finalize the transfer.
