Dutch Defender Nigel Lonwijk Nears Signing with Haifa Football Club
Haifa football club is in advanced talks to sign 23-year-old Dutch defender Nigel Lonwijk. Currently on loan at Luton Town from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Lonwijk has been participating in Wolves' preseason training. The club aims to strengthen its central defense under coach Barak Bachar with the addition of Lonwijk, who has experience playing for the Netherlands youth national team.
Lonwijk, of Surinamese descent, developed in PSV Eindhoven's youth academy before moving to Wolverhampton's youth system. He has been loaned to several clubs including Fortuna Sittard, Plymouth Argyle, Wycombe Wanderers, and Luton Town. Last season, he made 45 appearances and scored two goals for Luton Town in England's third tier.
