Israeli Border Police Discover Limp Donkey Hidden in Car Trunk at Jerusalem Checkpoint

During a routine inspection at the Tunnels Checkpoint near Jerusalem on Tuesday evening, Israeli Border Police officers discovered a donkey with paralyzed legs concealed in the trunk of a private vehicle arriving from the Gush Etzion area. The driver, a 28-year-old resident of Beitar Illit, was questioned on the spot and claimed the animal was ill and being transported to a farm in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood for treatment. The suspect was detained for further investigation by police, while the donkey was transferred to the Animal Welfare Association for care. Authorities are currently examining the circumstances to determine if additional offenses were committed. The Israeli Police emphasized that Border Police units will continue rigorously enforcing laws at all checkpoints, especially regarding animal welfare and legal compliance.
