Israeli Police Discover Donkey Tied in Car Trunk During Routine Check in Jerusalem
Israeli Border Police officers conducting a routine vehicle inspection at the Tunnel Checkpoint in Jerusalem on Tuesday evening discovered a donkey tied up inside the trunk of a private car. The driver, a 28-year-old resident of Beitar Illit, claimed the donkey was unwell and he intended to transport it to a farm in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood. The animal was handed over to an animal welfare organization for care, and the driver was detained for further investigation.
In a separate incident last month near the Har Homa neighborhood on Road 398, police stopped a private vehicle carrying 11 passengers, including seven children crammed into the trunk area, posing a serious safety risk. The 22-year-old East Jerusalem driver was charged, and the children were safely removed from the vehicle. The police emphasized their ongoing commitment to enforcing traffic laws to protect lives.
