Netanyahu Strongly Rejects Rabbi Lando's Criticism of Religious Zionist Soldiers

The controversy arose following a private conversation at Rabbi Lando's residence with Rabbi Aaron Finkel and Rabbi Binyamin Finkel of the Mir Yeshiva. During this discussion, Rabbi Lando referred to some Religious Zionist soldiers as "wicked" and accused them of fighting for state honor in a way he equated with murder. He questioned the morality of soldiers killing in the name of the state and accused them of inciting violence. The conversation also touched on the difficult political and religious tensions surrounding military service and loyalty.

Rabbi Lando recently returned from a fundraising trip in the United States for the "Olam HaTorah" foundation, where he was praised by Mir Yeshiva leaders for his dedication to Torah causes. Previously, he had expressed deep distrust of Netanyahu and political leaders over the failure to pass a military conscription law, stating in a handwritten letter that the concept of a political bloc no longer exists for him and that he would act solely in the interests of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community.
