Current and Former Israeli Tax Authority Employees Arrested for Alleged Bribery Scheme
Israeli police have arrested current and former employees of the Tax Authority on suspicion of accepting bribes. The arrests followed a covert investigation conducted by the National Fraud Investigations Unit (Yahaha) within Lahav 433. Authorities suspect that the employees took bribes in exchange for enabling the submission of false tax refund claims totaling approximately 80 million shekels over several years. This morning, Yahaha officers and Tax Authority investigators raided the suspects' homes and offices. The police plan to request an extension of the suspects' detention from the Ramla Magistrate's Court.
