Inter Milan Delays Anan Khalaily Signing Pending Additional Medical Tests
Anan Khalaily's transfer to Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan is temporarily delayed due to additional medical examinations required before he can officially sign with the club. The 21-year-old Israeli national team player arrived in Milan last Friday to complete his medical tests and finalize his contract. However, reports from Italian sports outlets La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport indicate that the Italian National Olympic Committee's sports medicine institute (CONI) has requested further focused medical evaluations.
In Italy, CONI is responsible for assessing athletes' fitness and issuing medical clearances. The supplementary tests are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, and only after receiving final approval will Inter announce Khalaily's signing. The delay is procedural rather than a sign of any immediate concern or deal collapse. If Khalaily passes the tests, Inter is expected to confirm the transfer early next week.
Inter Milan agreed to purchase Khalaily from Union Saint-Gilloise for 25 million euros plus bonuses, making him one of the most expensive Israeli footballers ever. The club sought to strengthen its right wing-back position following the sale of Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid for around 20 million euros. Initially, Inter targeted Marco Pestra, but after he chose to join Chelsea, they accelerated negotiations with Khalaily and reached an agreement.
