Israeli Footballer Anan Halaily Faces Medical Tests Delay Before Inter Milan Signing

Israeli footballer Anan Halaily arrived in Milan on Friday to finalize his transfer to Inter Milan, but his official signing may be delayed. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio and other media outlets, the Italian Olympic Committee's medical institute, CONI, has requested additional medical examinations before approving Halaily's registration. Initial tests conducted on Friday showed no issues, and the delay is attributed to Italy's strict medical criteria rather than any detected health problem. Due to privacy and medical confidentiality, the specific nature of the additional tests has not been disclosed, and Halaily is expected to wait until at least Tuesday for the results. Inter Milan is awaiting CONI's final decision before announcing the transfer.

Halaily, 21, joined Union Saint-Gilloise from Maccabi Haifa in summer 2024 for approximately 7.5 million euros. His impressive performances, including winning the Belgian league and scoring three goals in the Champions League, attracted interest from major European clubs. Inter Milan agreed to pay 25 million euros plus bonuses for his transfer, making Halaily the most expensive Israeli player ever. He is expected to sign a five-year contract and replace Denzel Dumfries, who recently moved to Real Madrid. Halaily's salary at Inter is projected at around 2 million euros per season, including bonuses. Maccabi Haifa, holding 15 percent of the transfer rights, stands to receive about 3 million euros, including solidarity payments. Last season, Halaily scored six goals and provided six assists in 52 games across all competitions for Union Saint-Gilloise.
