Israel Shares Intelligence With US on Iranian Plot to Assassinate Trump

The Wall Street Journal reports that Israeli intelligence recently provided the United States with updated information about an Iranian plot to assassinate then-President Donald Trump. According to sources familiar with the matter, Tehran has repeatedly vowed to retaliate against Trump for the killing of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, during Trump's first term.

The Israeli Embassy in Washington declined to comment further, and Iran's mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The White House directed the Wall Street Journal to statements made by Trump earlier in the week in Ankara, Turkey, where he explicitly acknowledged the threats against him, saying, "They want to kill the leader of the United States, me. I appear on every list. I saw this morning, I appear on every single one of their lists. So far, I guess I've been a little lucky, but maybe that won't last much longer."

The report highlights that hostility from Tehran remains overt and vehement. During the funeral of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, crowds chanted for Trump's death and held signs declaring, "We will kill Trump." This underscores the ongoing tension and the seriousness of the threats facing Trump from Iran.
