Analyst Hails Danny Avdija as Among World's Best Slashers

Israeli basketball player Danny Avdija is being lauded as one of the world's best at driving to the basket, according to analyst Jason Timpf of The Volume Sports. Timpf highlighted Avdija's crucial role in making the Portland Trail Blazers a difficult team to defend, particularly in their undefeated start to the season.

Speaking ahead of Portland's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Timpf explained that Avdija's ability to penetrate the defense, combined with the skills of teammates like Damian Lillard and Ja Morant, creates significant offensive opportunities. He noted a particular play where Avdija hit a clutch three-pointer after Lillard passed to him, exploiting defensive over-commitment to Morant.

Timpf emphasized the strong synergy between Avdija and Lillard, especially in two-man plays around the three-point arc. He also pointed out how the dynamic between Avdija, Lillard, and Morant works effectively because all three can drive to the basket and also shoot threes after receiving a pass. This versatility allows them to create space for each other and maintain offensive rhythm simultaneously.

"This Portland team has so much offensive talent that its offensive capability alone gives it an excellent chance to remain competitive throughout the regular season and rack up wins," Timpf concluded. The Trail Blazers entered their game with the Grizzlies with a 3-0 record, while Memphis was 4-0.
