Israeli basketball player Danny Avdija is being lauded as one of the world's best at driving to the basket, according to analyst Jason Timpf of The Volume Sports. Timpf highlighted Avdija's crucial role in making the Portland Trail Blazers a difficult team to defend, particularly in their undefeated start to the season.
Speaking ahead of Portland's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Timpf explained that Avdija, along with Ja Morant and other skilled shooters, forms a potent offensive unit. He noted the excellent chemistry between Avdija and Damian Lillard, citing a specific play where their two-man game near the three-point arc led to a critical three-pointer for Avdija after Lillard drew defensive attention.
Timpf emphasized the synergy created when Avdija and Lillard operate on opposite wings, generating space for each other. He further elaborated that the combination of Avdija, Lillard, and Morant works so well because all three can penetrate the defense and also hit three-pointers off passes, creating a dynamic offensive flow.
This offensive talent, Timpf concluded, gives the Portland Trail Blazers a strong chance to remain competitive throughout the regular season and accumulate wins.
