Bonzie Colson Returns to Maccabi Tel Aviv on a Two-Year Deal

Bonzie Colson has signed a two-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv and will return for a second stint at the club after two seasons with Fenerbahce. The 30-year-old forward, one of the fans’ favorites at Yad Eliyahu, is Maccabi’s first signing ahead of the 2026/27 season. The move was first reported by Channel 5 Sport.

Negotiations progressed positively from the first talks, with Colson showing a strong desire to come back to Tel Aviv despite other offers. Sporting director Claudio Coldebella played a major role in bringing him back, and coach Oded Katash also wanted Colson to return. The two reportedly have a good relationship and spoke several times in recent weeks.

Colson had an exit clause in his Fenerbahce contract worth 200,000 euros. He earned $1.5 million per season in Turkey, and his salary at Maccabi is expected to be the same. He previously played for Maccabi from 2022 to 2024, where he became a key figure and one of the EuroLeague’s leading players.

In his two seasons in Tel Aviv, Colson came within one win of reaching the Final Four, losing playoff series 3-2 to Monaco and Panathinaikos. In the 2023/24 season he averaged 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals, shooting 55.1% on two-pointers, 38.7% from three and 79.4% from the free-throw line. At Fenerbahce, he won the EuroLeague in his first season but averaged only 6.7 points in 18:27 minutes, then finished this season with 7.1 points in 16:52 minutes as his role declined.
