Bonzie Colson Returns to Maccabi Tel Aviv on Two-Year Deal
Bonzie Colson has signed a two-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv, returning for a second stint after two seasons at Fenerbahce. The American forward will be the Israeli champions’ first signing for the 2026/27 season.
The deal was completed after several weeks of negotiations, during which Colson reportedly wanted to come back to Israel despite interest from other clubs. Maccabi’s sporting director Claudio Coldebella led the talks, and head coach Oded Kattash also played a role, with the two having stayed in close contact.
Colson was able to leave Fenerbahce because of an exit clause in his contract. He spent two seasons in Turkey and won the EuroLeague title in 2025, though his role diminished later. Last season he averaged 7.1 points per game in the EuroLeague, after 6.7 points the season before.
In his first spell at Maccabi from 2022 to 2024, Colson became one of the team’s key players and a fan favorite at Menora Mivtachim Arena. In the 2023/24 EuroLeague season he averaged 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals, helping Maccabi come within one win of the Final Four. The club now hopes his return will strengthen the roster for another push for trophies in Israel and Europe.
