Bonzie Colson Officially Signs Two-Year Deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv
Maccabi Tel Aviv officially announced the signing of American forward Bonzie Colson on a two-year contract worth approximately $1.5 million per season. Colson returns to the Israeli club after a stint in Turkey with Fenerbahçe, where he won the EuroLeague title. The club activated a €200,000 buyout clause to bring him back to Israel.
Colson, who previously played for Maccabi from 2022 to 2024, was a key player in winning two Israeli championships and a State Cup, nearly leading the team to the EuroLeague Final Four. Now, as a more experienced player and European champion, he is expected to lead the squad under coach Oded Katash in their pursuit of domestic and continental titles. Katash praised Colson’s versatility and leadership, highlighting his ability to play multiple positions and his strong connection to the club and fans.
At 30 years old, Colson is anticipated to provide tactical flexibility, capable of playing as a shooting guard, small forward, and power forward. In his last season with Maccabi, he averaged 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in the EuroLeague, demonstrating sharp shooting and effective post play. Despite reduced playing time at Fenerbahçe late last season, Maccabi is confident Colson will regain his peak form in Tel Aviv.
Colson expressed deep gratitude and excitement about rejoining Maccabi, calling the club and its fans his family and thanking the management for their trust. Coach Katash, who maintained close contact with Colson over the past two years, described his return as a "blessed full circle" and emphasized his importance both on and off the court.
