Bonzie Colson Returns to Maccabi Tel Aviv After Two Seasons Away
Bonzie Colson is returning to Maccabi Tel Aviv after two seasons with Fenerbahce and one EuroLeague title. The 30-year-old forward signed a two-year deal and is expected to earn $1.5 million per season, the same salary he received in Turkey. The deal was reported on June 26, 2026, at 03:33.
Colson was not just any foreign player during his first stint in Tel Aviv. In only two years, he became a fan favorite at Yad Eliyahu, and his affection for the club and its supporters remained a major factor in his decision. He was willing to come back from the start of negotiations about a month ago, despite interest from other teams.
Two additional elements proved decisive, Maccabi’s professional director Claudio Coldebella and coach Oded Kattash. Coldebella pushed hard to bring Colson back, while Kattash wanted the forward, who had blossomed under him. Colson also valued the fact that Kattash stayed on at the club, and the two spoke several times over the past month.
Maccabi’s management ultimately did not want to miss the chance to bring back one of the biggest foreign “Maccabists” of the past decade. Kattash is expected to build around Colson for the 2026/27 season.
