Reserve Golani soldier killed in military vehicle rollover in southern Lebanon
The IDF said Thursday morning that Staff Sgt. Maj. (res.) Basel Suweid, 32, from the Druze village of Peki'in, was killed during an operational activity in southern Lebanon. Suweid served as a fighter in the Golani Brigade combat team.
According to the military, the fatal incident happened late Wednesday night in the area of the village of Ra'b al-Thalathin, when a military vehicle overturned during an operational drive. Suweid was killed at the scene. The accident occurred around 10:50 p.m.
Another soldier who was in the vehicle was wounded moderately and evacuated to a hospital for treatment. His family was informed of the incident.
The IDF said it shares the family's grief and will continue to accompany them. The army is investigating the event to draw lessons and help prevent similar accidents in the future.
