Reservist Staff Sgt. Basel Suweid killed in operational accident in southern Lebanon
Reservist Staff Sgt. Basel Suweid, 32, from Peki'in, was killed overnight in an operational accident in southern Lebanon, the military cleared for publication on Thursday morning, June 26, 2025. Another soldier was injured in the same incident and evacuated to a hospital in Israel.
According to the report, the accident happened on Wednesday around 11 p.m. in the village of Rabb al-Thalathin, where IDF forces have been operating since the start of the ground maneuver in Operation Courage of the Lion. Suweid was riding in a vehicle that overturned there for reasons that are still unclear.
The IDF said it is now investigating the circumstances of the serious incident.
